Are you Listening for a Silent God?

Are you Listening for a Silent God?

Have you ever been angry with God? Have you ever felt like your prayers were useless and that God just walked away from you? That’s exactly where I was a few years ago. My book is a journey of nearly 14 years of spiritual wandering that culminated in anger, frustration and doubt. It was excruciating but it was a journey that gave me a clearer understanding of who God is, what He wants for my life and why we suffer as Christians.

The honest truth is that there are valid reasons why we suffer… and no, I don’t like it either!

We suffer because God knows our worldly nature much better than we do. We suffer because God knows that it brings us closer to Him… and struggling makes it worse. I know from experience. Suffering and trials in our lives bring about one thing that nothing else can – humility. Ask yourself, what are the times in your life that you have been closest to the Lord? Were they times of prosperity and happiness? Scripture teaches us that humility is something God craves for us to have in our lives. He has seen throughout history where, many times, comfort, peace and wealth can be a poison to a Christian’s life and a healthy, growing relationship with Him.

Well, if you were looking for prosperity gospel here, sorry about that. I can leave you with this Scripture for the day.

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.” – Proverbs 11:12

“Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” – 1 Peter 5:5

So, the next time something comes along to test your resolve, pray and talk to God like you have never done before. I believe with all my heart, you will see results or, better yet, you will see a reason.

Love you guys. Be well.
